Talc-free is the Way To Be

Y’all know that I have an asthmatic family. If you’ve been following this blog since forever, you also know that my daughter, the #FabSkye had 2 episodes of pneumonia even before she turned 1. So I am really, really doing my best to keep her asthma-free. I even blogged about how to take care of your asthma-prone baby because I wanna help my fellow mums.

It’s not easy. Asthma? Oh my! I’ve witnessed how difficult it is to take care of asthmatic babies because all of my siblings are asthmatic. I swear! Si Mila, halos maloka na. My brother is in the hospital almost every other week. My sister, until now has asthma and it’s crazy!

Anyway, I’m very happy to report that so far I am successful in making sure that the #FabSkye is asthma-free. She’s already 3 and no asthma. I plan to keep it that way.

I already blogged about how to keep your babies asthma-free so on this blog post, I would like to focus on one thing - TALC!

I swear lumilipad ang kilay ko everytime I’d see mothers na grabe magpulbo sa mga anak nila. Especially if I know for a fact that they are using talc-based powder.

Did you know that according to the latest studies, talc is a major cause of respiratory problems? The American Academy of Pediatrics and even our very own Philippine Pediatrics Society does not recommend the use of talc-based powder because of the very high risk of breathing problems and serious lung damage. Aside from that, there are also studies (and lawsuits!) that relates the use of talc-based powders to ovarian cancer. Yes! Yang paglalagay ng powder sa singit and pwet of the babies? Especially baby girls? NO-NO!!

It is very important for us mothers to always be informed. And talc is not only bawal sa mga asthmatic babies. Even if di ka asthma-prone, I still would not recommend the use of talc-based powders dahil sa dami ng side effects.

But I understand why mums want to use baby powder. Especially now that it’s summer here in Manila. With the crazy heat? We want to use baby powder to at least help absorb the sweat and prevent them from getting bungang araw right? Plus it helps the baby feel fresh.

So I got you covered! I have found the best alternative for those talc-based powders na nakasanayan ng gamitin here in the Philippines.

You don’t know how happy I am when I received a tub of Belo Baby Talc-free Powder to review. Super right timing because I am really on the lookout for talc-free powder coz the #FabSkye sweats like a pig lately. Susmio naman kasi ang init diba? And her neck are showing signs of prickly heat rash already. So need talaga ng baby powder. Plus, I have allergic rhinitis so I also don’t like talc-based powders kasi sobra talagang hindi ako nakakahinga. But Belo Baby is really different. I love it! Super safe, ang bango and really effective in absorbing that crazy sweat.
