Knorr Lutong Nanay Food Fair

Did you know that there are around 5 million malnourished children here in the Philippines? Gosh! That's 5 freakin' million and that's too much for me.

Day in and day out, I always think about the food I offer my child. Just last week, I talked to my health conscious friend and asked for tips on what to give Skye. Feeling ko kasi paulit ulit na. And I want her to have a balanced diet.

That's why I said on my IG post that I have a love-hate relationship with nutrition. I love it because I know it's what my daughter needs but I hate it because most of the time I don't know what to do.

I'm so glad I attended Knorr's Lutong Nanay Food Fair last Saturday (24 October).
It’s a benefit event by Knorr Philippines. Basically, as part of their goal to fight malnutrition and hunger they launched this new campaign called Lutong Nanay. Together with their brand ambassadors, they aim to help mums on their everyday struggle in preparing food.
Apparently, like me, a lot of mums are also lost. Of course we all want what’s best for our children but we always associate healthy food to being expensive, difficult to prepare and definitely only for the elite. But no! Knorr and their brand ambassadors went to the community and educate the mums and make them understand that they don’t need to buy expensive ingredients to prepare healthy stuff for their kids.

I was so touched when they show to us the videos of the mums telling us that they really learned a lot. That it made them realize that they really don’t need to be rich to provide healthy food to their kids. They were also informed of the effects of malnutrition to the kids. Honestly, information is the key.

Sobrang natuwa ako when a mums said that she’s very happy to learn that the cheap tofu could be used as meat alternative or meat extenders. A trick we always do here it home!

Anyway, last Saturday they had a small food fair at Mercato Central in BGC. Where some stalls there offers home cooked meals. All proceeds of that event would be used for Knorr’s Lutong Nanay project.
Honestly, I had a grand time. Aside from learning a lot of stuff, I also got to try yummy food from the fair. Grabe! Mas nakakatuwa pang kumain because I know that this is for a good cause. Something I truly believe in.

Here are some of the food from the event…
That lechon is the bomb! Grabe sa sarap. Nakalimutan ko ang pangalan ko.

Congratulations to Knorr for this wonderful, wonderful cause. And please continue educating our mothers. Iba talaga pag sila ang natututo. I am glad that you don’t only aim to feed the hungry. You aim to eliminate hunger and malnutrition for good by doing campaigns with sustainable impact. Good job. And thank you for inviting us.
